Does Corporate Coaching Have Measurable Benefits?

by Jim Guerci on April 27, 2009

Although corporate coaching is widely accepted as a tool to improve communication, leadership and morale in an organization, most companies would like to see measurable results from this endeavor. An attempt at measuring the benefits of corporate coaching led International Coach Federation and Linkage, Inc to survey more than four thousand companies in 1999. The survey indicated that a majority of corporations believed that corporate coaching led to improved individual performance and used this tool for leadership development and change management.

Benefits of Corporate Coaching

The direct benefits of corporate coaching may include:

  • Improved self esteem
  • Higher motivation
  • Enhanced creativity
  • Increased confidence
  • Higher goal orientation
  • Better succession planning
  • Increased self empowerment
  • Increased innovation
  • More team work
  • Improved customer service
  • Openness to learning and development
  • Improved morale
  • Smooth communication

Although these benefits are intangible in nature, their impact translates into bottom-line results and is, therefore, measurable.

Measuring Corporate Coaching

There are several measurable indicators pointing to the success of executive coaching. These include:

  • Employee satisfaction
  • Turnover rates
  • Process time
  • Sales
  • Legal expenses
  • Profits

The Association for Coaching stated in its research paper “Return on Investment from Corporate Coaching” that most of the respondents had greater than 50% confidence in the quantifiable benefits of corporate coaching. Your Ultimate Success has helped companies achieve manifold return on investment from corporate coaching.
